Meet Our Doctors


Dr. Alexandra Moore
Founder & Medical Director
Dr. Alexandra Moore is the founder and medical director of Monte Vista Animal Hospital. She is here five days a week, providing best-in-class medical, preventative, and surgical care. Dr. Moore strives to build meaningful and lasting relationships with clients and patients by putting in extra time and attention and treating each one like family. Dr. Moore recalls that when growing up, the local veterinarian was a part of the family, a person whom you trusted and respected. They knew not only your pet’s birthday but yours as well. Dr. Moore has had a life-long dream of continuing this personalized care and sense of community for pets and their families.
Dr. Moore is a 3rd generation native Reno Nevadan. She is a proud graduate of the University of Nevada, Reno, and Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Moore holds a bachelor’s degree in Biology with distinction, a minor in psychology, and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree, and is a dean’s list and WICHE recipient. Upon graduating from vet school in 2012, Dr. Moore quickly climbed the ranks, becoming Senior Associate Veterinarian for a well-respected, local integrative practice in Reno. Throughout her career, Dr. Moore has given educational talks to the community and has donated her professional skills to help shelter pets. She has a passion for dentistry and has completed advanced dentistry training from the Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine, UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine Center for Continuing Professional Education, the Veterinary Dental Forum, and the American Veterinary Dental College.
When not caring for her patients and clients, Dr. Moore loves spending time with her family (so much so that she talked her mom into being her hospital administrator), exploring this beautiful region, and cooking for friends and family with fresh ingredients from her garden. Dr. Moore is married to her best friend, Adam. They have three delightful children, August, Greta, and Ingrid, a loyal Pudelpointer Ellie, and eight sassy chickens.

Dr. Sara Hogle
Veterinarian
Dr. Sara Hogle was born and raised in Crescent City, a small, remote town in coastal northern California. She was introduced to veterinary medicine very early in life by her father, who is a veterinarian. As a young girl, she developed a passion for the profession that has only grown stronger over the years. She completed her Bachelor of Science and veterinary medical degrees at the University of California, Davis, graduating with honors. After graduation, she traveled with her husband, Chris, to Ecuador, where they volunteered with a wild animal rescue and rehabilitation facility deep in the Amazon jungle. Upon return to the states, she resumed her work with dogs and cats in October 2008, moving to Reno, NV when her husband was accepted to a graduate program at The University of Nevada, Reno. Her special interests include dentistry, ultrasound, internal medicine, emergency/critical care, and soft-tissue surgery.
When she is not caring for her patients and clients, Dr. Hogle enjoys hiking, kayaking, cross-country and downhill skiing, teaching at Sky Tavern Junior Ski Program, gardening, canning/preserving her harvest, playing guitar and ukulele, camping, and enjoying the outdoors with her adventurous Goldendoodle, Finneus, spicy bunny rabbit, Luna Lopgood, husband, Chris (a fish and wildlife biologist), and two energetic little ladies, Chloe and Olivia.

Dr. Lauren Salgo
Veterinarian
Dr. Lauren Salgo was born and raised in Reno, Nevada. She attended Reno High School where she discovered her dream of becoming a veterinarian. She moved to Oregon to attend Oregon State University and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Animal Sciences. She remained at Oregon State for vet school and received her veterinary medical degree in 2013. Missing her hometown, she decided to move back to Reno to start her career in veterinary medicine. Her special interests include dentistry, preventive care, and internal medicine.

Gail Hamilton
Hospital Administrator
Gail Hamilton is the Hospital Administrator for Monte Vista Animal Hospital. Gail works seven days a week, creating and fostering a supportive, efficient, and happy environment for our clients, patients, and staff. Gail comes from a background in human medicine, having worked for 40+ years building and managing medical and dental practices.
Gail is a graduate of the University of Nevada, Reno, and holds a bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies with a minor in Finance. She has completed many hours of advanced training in management and human resources and is passionate about helping others. Throughout her career, Gail has been a Court Appointed Special Advocate for Abused and Neglected Children, an educator for the Women’s Financial Information Program, and a board member for the Care Chest of Sierra Nevada.
Gail has been an integral part in the formation of Monte Vista Animal Hospital since its inception. We are so lucky to have her expertise and leadership. Gail strives to provide our clients with the best experience possible through open communication, caring, and curating a world-class team. One of Gail’s greatest joys is interacting with people and ensuring the best possible experience for our patients and clients. Gail is a 2nd generation native Nevadan. She enjoys travel, reading, cooking, and spending time with her family. Gail has three grown children and six grandchildren, all of whom make her proud every day.

Michelle Clifford
Operations and Finance Administrator (Jill of all trades)
Michelle graduated from California State University, Sacramento. She prides herself in empathizing with the needs and wants of the patients and the clients and understanding the desire to help make the patients feel better when they do not feel well. In her free time, she enjoys hanging out with her husband and two pugs. She also enjoys daily exercise, cooking, and baking.

Ashley Verrier
Licensed Veterinary Technician
Ashley has been practicing for over 8 years. She attended school at Truckee Meadows Community College, completing the Veterinary Technician Program. She prides herself in being the voice her patients’ don’t have. They can’t tell us what’s wrong, it is up to us help them. She treats every pet like her own and truly grows a bond with each and every animal. In her free time, she spends time with her husband, Alex, and son, Caiden. They enjoy going camping, swimming, off-roading on their ATV.

Jessica Raffelson
Licensed Veterinary Technician
Jessica attended the University of Nevada, Reno and has been in the veterinary field for 3 years. She prides herself in not only treating the patients and taking care of them but also in making sure the owner is taken care of and confident in the care she gives them. In her free time, she spends as much of her time outside when the weather is nice whether it’s hiking or some picnics, baking, and making little craft projects for her friends.

Tracy DeGiovanni
Licensed Veterinary Technician
Tracy attended UNR and TMCC and graduated from UNR in 1999 with a bachelor’s degree in Biology and an Associate’s degree in Animal Science in 2009 for her LVT credentials. She has been in the veterinary field for 15 years. She prides herself on always trying to treat each patient like they are her own. She tries to advocate for them the best she can and be the voice they do not have. She also tries to remember each and every patient with their unique personality because what works for one patient might not work for another patient. Tracy has a special interest in behavior and dentistry. She has taken numerous advanced courses in dentistry and has been practicing for the past 13 years. In her free time, Tracy loves to travel and has been all over the world. She also likes to garden and spend time relaxing, playing with her dogs and cats, and reading and watching crime shows.

Robin Cummings
Licensed Veterinary Technician
Robin graduated from Platt College Riverside and has been working in the veterinary field since 2019. She enjoys developing strong relationships with her clients and patients, which makes her work all the more fulfilling. Outside of work, she spends time with her family and enjoys activities like baking, hiking, and kayaking. Additionally, she works part-time as an instructor for TMCC’s veterinary program.

Nicole Jacinto
Veterinary Assistant
Nicole has been in this field for close to 6 months. She attended Truckee Meadows Community College. She prides herself in expanding her education to provide the best care for every patient and supply helpful information to their owners. It is important for her to assist patients and reward them with cuddles. In her free time, she practices yoga and rock climbing. She enjoys exploring with her family and her puppy.

Kacey Smith
Veterinarian Assistant
Kacey has been in this field for close to 5 years. She attended the College of Southern Nevada. She prides herself on building strong relationships with the patients she cares for during their time at the hospital. Seeing the patients get better each day keeps her going! In her free time, she loves to go on adventures with her four dogs and husband! She also loves to go camping. fishing, and hiking. When she is home, Kasey likes to teach her pet pig different tricks.

Ashlynn Burns
Veterinarian Assistant
Ashlynn is new to the veterinary field but has several years of experience with animals. She attended the Truckee Meadows Community College. She prides herself in providing the best care for animals and treating them with love and compassion. My primary goal is to ensure they have long, healthy, and happy lives. In her free time, she likes to craft, watch anime, and play video games with her dog by her side.

Darcie Beck
Veterinarian Assistant
Darcie has been in this field for close to 5 and a half years She attended Cabrillo college. She takes pride in understanding animal behavior in different situations and strives to work with them, while also being ready to assist whenever necessary. In her free time, she likes to sew, garden, and make herbal soaps. She enjoys playing with her 4 german shepherds and riding her horses.
